The Project:
Just for Fun
What do I do for work? Make things...
What do I do for fun? Well, I make things.
I come from a family that loves to keep their hands busy. From an early age I couldn't resist either pulling things apart or putting them together. From cutting my Barbie's hair, to opening my first watch to see how it ticked (it was Strawberry Shortcake and actually digital, but it never quite worked same again, after all, I was 5!).
I learnt to sew at 12 and never looked back, I have since made dresses, handbags, leather books and jewelry, hangings, once making costumes for an award winning stop motion animation. Behind a sewing machine is where I find the most peace.
For many years I studied photography, starting with black and white processing and moving on to studio photography for merchandise. Skills that still inform my work today.
When I'm not sewing, styling, or taking photos, I am supporting emerging artists, spending time with my dog, or visiting artisan markets, trade shows, and exhibitions. Enjoying all the theatre, music, and adventures that NYC has to offer.
